Texas Workforce Commission

District Office Building

Paris, Tx - Completed 1987

Constructed by an independent developer, this project was designed to house the regional office of the Texas Workforce Commission (formerly the Texas Employment Commission). The 6,750 square foot facility includes offices, workrooms, and a large central service hall to house the various service points-of-contact between the staff and the clientele.

The project involved extensive parking areas and site development to accommodate large intermittent numbers of clients at one time. The building is a steel-framed, brick veneer/drywall construction with a sloped standing-seam metal roof, with high clerestory windows to introduce natural light into the central service hall.

The project was constructed by Harrison, Walker and Harper, General Contractors, of Paris under a competitively bid lump-sum general contract and was completed on schedule in the spring of 1987, at a final cost of $501,464.00 ($74.32 per square foot).
